PYP8 Search Lessons
During the recent Alan November visit a group of PYP8 students had the opportunity to talk and get feedback from him. He focused on what the students were doing (Exhibition!) and built a search challenge around this. He does a great job of highlighting what the kids know and then in the context of the challenge what they do not. He introduced the idea and use of 3 Google Site Operators.

The use of these operators and extensions was presented as the 'language of Google'. The students then applied the 3 operators together to do 'search design'. Students were able to hone their search skills and apply the lessons to their work.
The ideas is this informs the way forward. This is exactly the type of skill students need to use the Internet in an effective way. This is a piece of the puzzle that has been missing. This coupled with other skill development will allow students to effectively and efficiently use the Internet for searching.
